In the material handling field, side loaders are highly versatile. Their distinct design enables diverse applications across multiple industries. Here’s a look at where they’re most useful.
Construction

In construction, side loaders are a boon. They’re perfect for handling long, heavy building materials like steel beams and pipes. Their side – loading feature allows for careful loading and unloading, reducing material damage risks.
Forestry & Timber
The forestry and timber industry depends on side loaders. They’re great for moving logs from forests to processing plants. In sawmills, they transport cut timber. Their design lets them navigate forest terrains, where traditional forklifts can’t.
Manufacturing & Warehousing

For manufacturing plants and warehouses, side loaders are ideal for space optimization. They can access narrow aisles, handling long products like rolled carpets or machinery parts. In manufacturing, they move raw materials to production lines and finished goods to storage. In warehouses, they stack and retrieve long items, maximizing storage space.
Shipping & Logistics
In shipping and logistics, side loaders are crucial for handling long and irregular containers. They can load and unload containers from trucks and ships efficiently. In ports, they speed up container transfer, and in logistics centers, they move cargo. Keywords such as “side loaders in shipping” attract shipping and logistics firms seeking better cargo – handling methods.
What side does a side loader unload?
We off load the container onto the ground on the drivers’ side of the vehicle. When the container is unloaded it lands between the two out rigger feet of the side loader, parallel to and approximately half a metre from the side of the truck.

How much can a side loader lift?
Different brands have different designs and load capacities.
On average, almost all sideloaders can lift 5 tons or less, this includes electric and diesel sideloaders.
FLIFT’s current maximum load capacity is up to 20 tons.

What kind of power is side loader forklift use?
Generally, there are two types of power: diesel and electric. As for diesel power, because different countries have different emission standards, FLIFT can provide different types of engines for different countries, such as Cummins, Perkins, etc.
As for electric power, there are usually two types of batteries, one is lithium battery and the other is lead-acid battery. Customers can choose according to their needs.
Can install a boom telescopic on a side loader forklift?
Yes. The addition of a telescopic arm to the side forklift can expand the operating range, improve flexibility, enable multi-angle operation, and enhance the ability to carry special and heavy goods, thus adapting to complex sites.
The picture below shows a 7-ton diesel equipped with a telescopic boom that we customized for a foreign customer.
