What are the key components of diesel forklifts?

First of all, for a diesel forklift, the most important thing is the engine. As the power source of the forklift, the chemical energy of diesel is converted into mechanical energy to provide power for the forklift’s driving, lifting and other operations. The engine’s power, torque and emissions all reflect the engine’s performance.

 

So how do we judge the engine’s performance?

The performance of a diesel forklift engine can be judged from multiple dimensions: in terms of power output, by looking at technical parameters such as rated power and torque, combined with actual operation during lifting, driving, climbing, acceleration and load capacity to evaluate; in terms of economic performance, focus on fuel consumption and thermal efficiency. Engines with low fuel consumption, stable normal operating temperature and normal exhaust emissions are more economical; in terms of reliability and durability, see whether the start-up is quick and smooth, whether the speed is stable during operation, and refer to maintenance records; environmental performance is judged based on the exhaust emission color, odor and whether it meets relevant environmental standards. Engines that meet the standards and have normal exhaust have good environmental performance.

The diesel engines used by FLIFT, whether standard or optional, are all well-known domestic and foreign brands. For example, the standard configuration of our latest S series 5-12 ton diesel forklifts uses Yuchai’s latest Bosch high-pressure common rail electric engine. This engine has the advantages of large displacement, strong power, large low-speed torque, and good oil adaptability.

The second is the frame.

The frame is the main structure of the forklift, which is used to support and connect various components. The frame is usually made of high-strength steel, with sufficient strength and rigidity to withstand various loads during the operation of the forklift.

 

The overhead guard of the FLIFT forklift is made of high-strength steel plate in one piece. High-strength steel plates give it excellent strength and toughness. The one-piece molding without welding and splicing eliminates weak points, can effectively resist the impact of heavy objects falling from above, and build a solid safety line for the driver; the structure of the formed overhead guard is uniform and stable, which can better withstand driving and operating stress, reduce deformation and fatigue damage; at the same time, this process makes the surface of the overhead guard smooth without welding marks, and improves the appearance texture of the forklift.

 

The mast uses 20MnSiV high-strength alloy channel steel, which has achieved performance leaps in many aspects compared to ordinary gantry steel. From the strength level, the optimized ratio of 20MnSiV alloy elements significantly enhances its yield strength and tensile strength, which is 20% higher than ordinary steel. During heavy-load lifting operations, it can withstand greater cargo weight and lateral pressure, reduce deformation risks, and extend service life; in terms of toughness, the alloy material effectively improves brittleness, reduces the possibility of cracking under low temperature and impact conditions, and ensures the integrity of the gantry structure. In addition, 20MnSiV alloy channel steel also has good weldability and processability, which is convenient for manufacturing complex structures. Its outstanding fatigue resistance can greatly reduce the metal fatigue damage caused by frequent lifting operations, and the safety and stability of operations are greatly improved.

 

Finally, it’s the rear counterweight.

The rear counterweight balances the torque generated by the front cargo by adding weight to the rear of the forklift, prevents the forklift from tipping forward, and ensures safe and stable operations; at the same time, it optimizes the center of gravity of the forklift, improves maneuverability and operating efficiency; it can also share the load, reduce the pressure of the front structure, and extend the service life of the forklift.

 

FLIFT forklifts all use cast iron counterweights. It has a high density and can be used as a counterweight to effectively balance the weight of the front cargo and ensure operational stability and safety; high strength, high hardness and good wear resistance can withstand various stress impacts, reduce wear, extend service life and reduce maintenance costs; excellent shock absorption performance can absorb vibration, reduce noise, and improve driving comfort; good casting performance is convenient for manufacturing complex and precise parts, and the process is mature, the cost is low, and the production efficiency is high; at the same time, it has a certain corrosion resistance, which can resist environmental erosion and reduce the frequency of maintenance and replacement.

 

Are diesel forklifts good?

 

Sure. Diesel forklifts have significant advantages. Their diesel engines have high torque and power output, strong power, can easily carry heavy objects, and have excellent climbing and acceleration performance, which can meet the needs of high-intensity operations; they have a large fuel storage capacity and a cruising range far exceeding that of electric forklifts, and do not require frequent refueling, making them suitable for long-term continuous operations; they have a wide range of adaptability to working environments, and can operate stably indoors and outdoors, in dry and wet environments, or in places without charging facilities or unstable electricity; and they have a simple engine structure, mature maintenance technology, strong component versatility, a durable hydraulic system, low maintenance costs, and low replacement frequency.

 

How to maintain diesel forklifts?

Diesel forklift maintenance can be divided into daily, regular and special maintenance. Daily maintenance requires checking fuel, engine oil, hydraulic system, tires and cleaning the body. Regular maintenance includes cleaning the air filter and checking the fan belt every 50 hours; changing the engine oil and filter, cleaning the fuel filter and checking the brake system every 200 hours; changing the hydraulic oil and filter and checking the transmission parts every 600 hours; and fully checking the engine, checking the structural parts and adding grease every 1000 hours. Special maintenance is for long-term parking or operation in harsh environments. It is necessary to check the oil, battery, etc., clean the relevant parts and repair the protective coating.

 

How to choose a diesel forklift that suits you?

The selection of diesel forklifts can be considered from the following dimensions:

In terms of the working environment, choose a small-tonnage forklift with low noise and good exhaust purification indoors, and focus on power and passability outdoors; choose a compact body for narrow space, and choose a strong off-road performance for uneven ground.

In terms of operating requirements, match the lifting height and load capacity according to the stacking height and maximum weight of the goods, and choose a mid-to-high-end product with stable performance for frequent operations.

In terms of forklift performance, pay attention to power, braking and operating comfort.

Cost factors include purchase cost and use cost, which need to be weighed comprehensively, not just looking at the price.
