How long does it usually take to charge an electric forklift?

The charging time of an electric forklift is affected by many factors.
The first is the battery type. The battery types of electric forklifts are divided into two types: lead-acid batteries and lithium batteries. Let’s take a 3-ton forklift as an example. It takes about 8-10 hours for a lead-acid battery to be fully charged, while it takes about 2-3 hours for a lithium battery to be fully charged.

Second, the charging time is also affected by the battery capacity. Electric forklifts of different models and specifications are equipped with different battery capacities. Generally speaking, the larger the battery capacity, the longer the charging time. For example, the battery capacity of some small electric forklifts may be around 200Ah, while the battery capacity of large electric forklifts may reach more than 500Ah. The charging time of large-capacity batteries will be significantly longer than that of small-capacity batteries.

The third is the power of the charging equipment. The power of the charging equipment directly affects the charging speed. A charger with a higher power can charge more electricity into the battery in a shorter time, thereby shortening the charging time. For example, a battery can be charged about twice as fast with a 10kW charger as with a 5kW charger.

These are the main factors that affect charging time, but there are others. For example, the remaining charge of the battery. If the remaining charge of the electric forklift battery is low before charging, the charging time will be relatively long; conversely, if the remaining charge is high, the charging time will be shorter. For example, it usually takes longer to charge the battery from 20% to full than from 50% to full.

There is also the charging method. The charging time of conventional charging and fast charging methods is very different. Fast charging technology can replenish a large amount of power to the battery in a shorter time, but it may have a certain impact on the battery life; although conventional charging takes a longer time, it has relatively less damage to the battery. For example, using fast charging technology, it may take 3-5 hours to charge the battery to about 80%, but using conventional charging methods takes 8-10 hours.

The P series electric forklift launched by FLIFT only takes half an hour to charge and can be used for 8 hours under comprehensive working conditions. This is because we are equipped with the original 309V lithium battery of CATL. During the charging process, the higher the charging current, the faster the charging speed is usually. The performance of this series of electric forklifts is comparable to that of internal combustion forklifts, with a driving speed of 20km/h and a lifting speed of 530mm/s, which greatly improves work efficiency.

How much can an electric forklift lift?

The lifting weight of electric forklifts varies due to different designs of brands and types.
Generally, common electric forklifts can carry 3-12 tons of load. Of course, some small ones under 3 tons are also common.

The maximum load that FLIFT can currently carry is 33 tons. It can lift a fully loaded 20-foot container.
The actual lifting weight of an electric forklift is not fixed and will be affected by many factors. The center of gravity of the cargo has a significant impact on it. When the center of gravity of the cargo exceeds the specified range, the actual safe lifting weight will be reduced; the higher the lifting height, the less weight can be lifted. Forklifts with different masts have different structural strengths and stability, which determine different carrying capacities; ground conditions are equally important. Soft or uneven ground will weaken the stability and carrying capacity of the forklift. In addition, the maintenance of the forklift will also affect its performance. Forklifts that lack maintenance for a long time may have reduced carrying capacity.

So what should we do for the daily maintenance of electric forklifts?

The maintenance of electric forklifts mainly includes daily maintenance, regular maintenance and special maintenance.

Daily maintenance of electric forklifts requires appearance cleaning, battery inspection, tire inspection and lighting inspection: wipe the body with a clean rag, and focus on cleaning the fork teeth, mast, wheels and other parts. Check the battery electrolyte level, add distilled water or special electrolyte in time, keep the battery surface clean and the pole connection firm. Check tire pressure, tread wear and foreign matter, and deal with abnormalities in time; check whether various lights such as headlights and turn signals can work normally, and replace damaged bulbs in time.

Electric forklifts are regularly maintained in stages. Every 50 hours, on the basis of completing daily maintenance, check the brake pad wear and brake fluid level of the brake system, replace severely worn brake pads in time, add brake fluid, and adjust and lubricate the drive chain. Every 200 hours, on the premise of 50-hour maintenance, focus on checking the hydraulic system, pay attention to the hydraulic oil level and quality, replace deteriorated and contaminated hydraulic oil in time, and repair or replace the seals at the leaking parts. Every 600 hours, in addition to the above maintenance, remove dust from the motor, check the insulation performance of the winding and the connection of the terminal, maintain the gearbox, replace the gearbox oil and check the wear of the gears and bearings.

Special maintenance of electric forklifts can be divided into long-term parking maintenance and seasonal maintenance. Before long-term parking, comprehensive cleaning and maintenance are required, the battery is fully charged and regularly replenished to prevent power loss, and it is parked in a dry and ventilated place and covered with a protective cover. When changing seasons, keep the battery warm in winter and pay attention to the heat dissipation of the forklift in summer, avoid long-term operation at high temperature, and check the working condition of the cooling system to ensure the performance and service life of the forklift in different special scenarios.

Can electric forklifts work 24 hours a day?

Under normal circumstances, it is difficult for electric forklifts to work 24 hours a day because their battery capacity is limited. They can only work continuously for 6-8 hours when fully charged, and conventional charging takes 6-8 hours, even fast charging takes 1-2 hours; at the same time, long-term operation can easily cause overheating of motors and other components, which need to be stopped for heat dissipation. Tires, brakes and other components will also be aggravated by excessive use, affecting equipment performance and safety.

FLIFT’s new high-voltage lithium battery series forklift battery replacement version can achieve a quick battery replacement in 3 minutes. The operation is simple, convenient and fast. And the forklift itself is equipped with a three-electric thermal management system. It can accurately control the battery charging and discharging temperature to avoid damage caused by extreme temperatures, effectively extend battery life and reduce costs; it can optimize the temperature environment during charging, speed up charging and shorten waiting time; it can also monitor the temperature of key components in real time, promptly warn of abnormalities, and ensure the safety of personnel and equipment; it can heat and insulate the motor and battery in low temperature environments to ensure stable operation of the forklift; at the same time, it can recycle braking heat to achieve energy reuse, improve energy utilization, and be both economical and environmentally friendly.
