Can you lift a 20ft container with a forklift?

Some forklifts can lift 20-foot containers, but not all forklifts have this capability.

The standard weight of a 20-foot container is about 2.2 tons (empty), and if it is fully loaded, the maximum total weight is generally about 28 tons. Common light and medium-sized forklifts, such as forklifts with a lifting capacity of about 3 tons and 5 tons, cannot lift 20-foot containers due to their limited rated lifting capacity.

However, some heavy forklifts, such as forklifts with a rated lifting capacity of more than 10 tons or even higher (such as 16 tons, 25 tons, 45 tons and other heavy forklifts), can lift 20-foot containers under certain operating conditions and safety regulations.

The maximum load capacity of the largest diesel forklift that FLIFT can currently achieve is 48 tons, and the maximum load capacity of the electric forklift is 33 tons, which can fully meet the above needs and can easily lift a 20-inch container.

In addition, when using a forklift to lift a container, it is also necessary to consider factors such as the stability of the forklift, whether the length and strength of the fork are suitable for forking the container, and the conditions of the operating site to ensure safe operation.

What kind of electric power do the forklift use?

The common power for forklifts is provided by lead-acid batteries and lithium-ion batteries. Lead-acid batteries are one of the most commonly used power sources for forklifts. They have mature technology, low cost, high safety, and large capacity, and can meet the needs of various working conditions of forklifts. However, they have disadvantages such as heavy weight, slow charging, limited battery life, and short service life. Lithium-ion batteries are increasingly used in forklifts. They have the advantages of high energy density, light weight, fast charging, and long cycle life, which can significantly improve the efficiency of forklifts. However, lithium-ion batteries are expensive and have strict requirements on charging equipment and use environment. They need to be equipped with lithium battery management systems to ensure safety and performance.

FLIFT has been completely upgraded and redesigned by the technical team to launch a large-tonnage lithium battery forklift. Its battery uses CATL original battery packs, and the battery cells can be guaranteed for 8 years. The voltage of 618V can increase the battery life by more than 20%.

What factors should you consider when buying an electric forklift?

When buying an electric forklift, you need to consider many factors comprehensively.

First, load capacity and lifting height are the basis, which should be determined according to the weight of the goods and the storage and handling height requirements; the width of the operating channel affects the applicability of the forklift. For narrow channels, you need to choose a compact body and a small turning radius.

Battery type and endurance are also crucial. Lead-acid batteries and lithium-ion batteries have their own advantages and disadvantages. They need to be selected in combination with the operation time and frequency, and ensure that the charging facilities in the workplace can meet the needs.

In addition, brand quality and after-sales service are related to the long-term and stable use of forklifts. Well-known brands are more secure, and a complete after-sales network can handle faults in time.

Finally, the price and budget need to be comprehensive. The vehicle purchase price, maintenance costs, etc., pursue high cost performance within the budget.

FLIFT electric forklifts can reach 1.5-33 tons, with different loads and different types for customers to choose.

How to maintain the battery of electric forklift?

In terms of charging, the timing and duration of charging need to be strictly controlled. Avoid over-discharging of electric forklift batteries. Charge them in time when the remaining power is about 20% – 30%; each charging time should not exceed 8 – 10 hours to prevent overcharging. At the same time, a matching charger must be used to reduce battery damage and ensure its performance and life.

During use, avoid high current discharge and control smoothly during operations such as starting and climbing. Pay attention to the ambient temperature of use, cool down and recharge after high temperature, and keep warm at low temperature. Perform a deep discharge every 2 – 3 months to maintain the battery in good working condition and extend its service life by activating the active substances on the plate. Daily maintenance cannot be ignored. Check the electrolyte height regularly and add distilled water or special supplementary fluid in time; keep the battery surface clean to prevent short circuit and corrosion; check the connecting wires and plugs regularly to ensure a firm connection, reduce the risk of battery damage caused by poor contact, and protect the battery in all directions.
